This project examined resilience to environmental change, including climate change, among poor and vulnerable rural populations in hill zones of Nepal and Myanmar.

This UKERC programme explored the complexity of decisions required in developing energy systems, focused on governance and the main challenges at system level, challenges in understanding actor decision-making, and systemic interactions.

In the third phase of the UK Energy Research Centre (UKERC), ECI led a theme which explored challenges in energy decision-making, including governance, actor decision-making and systemic interactions.

This project explored how and where energy participation is occurring in the West of England, with a focus on Bristol.

ProdJus examined two supranational governance arrangements for tropical forests which aimed to transform the wood products trade between Europe and other world regions: FSC and FLEGT.

The Zero Hunger – Zero Emissions Project set out to explore how societies can engage in difficult yet inclusive debates around achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and 13 (Climate Action).

SUSFANS built a conceptual framework, evidence base and analytical tools to underpin EU-wide food policies on consumer diet and the implications for nutrition and public health. It also explored the competitiveness of EU agri-food sectors, and global food and nutrition security. 

WEFWEB explores the challenges of understanding and identifying the dynamic, interlinked interdependencies across the physical, social and political, ecological and digital nexus networks at multiple, nested scales and temporally.

TRANSMANGO focuses on the vulnerability and resilience of European food systems in the context of socio-economic, behavioural, technological, institutional and agro-ecological change, and aimed to enhance understanding of the new challenges and opportunities that the food sector will face in the future.

A project to co-produce innovative and effective policy strategies and measures in key social, economic, and environmental sectors based on an improved quantification and assessment of the cross-sectoral impacts and vulnerabilities associated with high-end scenarios.

The GREEN-WIN project created an international, transdisciplinary research collaboration to understand the links between climate action and sustainability, and overcoming barriers through win-win strategies. 

ECI led a consortium to quantify the impacts of potential pathways to net-zero that could maximise emissions reduction and increase sequestration in land use sectors, while ensuring the resilience of land uses to climate warming.

A step by step guidebook for the monitoring and evaluation of ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) to inform project developers, implementers and the international climate community on how to assess and report the benefits of EbA.

This project’s primary aim is to help SMEs and intermediaries gain a better understanding of sustainable growth and its implications for their businesses.

Working closely with local planners and other stakeholders in Bicester and beyond, ECI and partners Forest Research tested a range of practical tools for mapping and assessing GI, and develop clear step-by-step guidance for users.

A NERC-funded internship allowed two ECI researchers to help the Ecosystems Knowledge Network update and expand their Tool Assessor and connect stakeholders with the website.
