Multi-hazard Infrastructure Risk Assessment for Climate Adaptation (MIRACA)

The MIRACA consortium is funded by the EU and aims to empower public authorities and Critical Infrastructure managers to pinpoint risk-prone areas and develop affordable adaptation strategies to mitigate the physical and economic damages that can result from climate change.

OPSIS is leading the development of trans-European transport network flow and disruption models that will help quantify extreme hazard impacts (e.g. floods, storms, extreme heat) to roads, railways and inland waterways. The research will enable a better understanding of how to assess and prioritise climate adaptation of critical infrastructure in Europe.  It will form part of a research-based toolkit that promotes adaptation measures in order to prepare Europe’s critical infrastructure to withstand extreme weather events.
