Professor Malhi, who is also the Director of the Leverhulme Centre for Nature Recovery at the University of Oxford, said:

There is so much that needs to be done to create a world in which both people and the rest of nature thrive. There are amazing people on this list of change-makers, and I am honoured and humbled to be among them. But it will take many more of us to create the flourishing world we desire – we all have a part to play.”

The annual list includes individuals who have shaped or influenced national or local environmental policy, enhanced the reputation of the environmental profession, or unsung heroes whose work is delivering positive change.
