We are delighted to announce that Jan Rosenow has been conferred the title of Full Professor of Energy and Climate Policy by the University of Oxford.

Professor Rosenow leads the Energy Programme at the Environmental Change Institute and holds the Jackson Senior Research Fellowship at Oriel College, Oxford. He is also a Senior Associate at the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, University of Cambridge, and Affiliate Faculty at the University of Sussex.

Prof Jan Rosenow said:

This recognition is the result of many years of work, but in reality, it goes back much further. When I was eight, inspired by my parents’ environmental values, I started a small environmental group. But I never imagined then that my journey would one day lead here. Being awarded a professorship at Oxford feels like things have come full circle.

I am deeply grateful to my colleagues at the Environmental Change Institute, the School of Geography and the Environment, and Oriel College. Their support and encouragement have made all the difference, and I feel very fortunate to work alongside such dedicated people.”

His earlier career includes senior roles across the private and non-profit sectors.

In recognition of his global influence, he has been named the most-read thought leader on the energy transition, ranked among the top 100 voices in the climate sector, and listed as one of the top 25 energy and top 15 sustainability influencers worldwide. He is also recognised as one of LinkedIn’s Top Green Voices. His dedication to advancing energy policy in the UK has led to fellowships at both the Royal Society of Arts and the Energy Institute.
