The Environmental Change Institute (ECI) at the University of Oxford has partnered with Skill Up for Earth to launch the Certificate Programme in Climate Solutions and Strategies, an innovative, globally accessible climate action and leadership programme.
Combining Oxford academic excellence with skills-based training, the programme helps participants move from understanding climate issues to designing, leading, and implementing real-world solutions. Graduates will earn a professional Oxford certificate, demonstrating their readiness to contribute to climate action across sectors and regions.
Transforming learners into changemakers
The programme equips participants to:
- Learn from leading academics and global practitioners
- Build in-demand skills including systems thinking, risk assessment, clean energy transitions analysis, sustainable innovation and more
- Develop a personal portfolio showcasing climate solutions
- Join a global network shaping high-impact climate action
Why donating matters
The climate crisis won’t wait — and neither can the people on the frontlines of its impacts. Talented changemakers around the world need support now to lead solutions within their communities.
To ensure true global access, half of all programme seats are reserved for scholarship recipients from underrepresented regions. Donations directly fund these scholarships — meaning every contribution helps someone take climate action where it matters most.
Skill Up for Earth is a non-profit organisation dedicated to equipping people everywhere to respond to environmental challenges. Its Executive Director, Dr Kamal Kapadia, is an ECI alumna, graduating from the MSc Environmental Change and Management (1998) and working at the ECI as a Research Fellow (2008-2012).
Dr Kapadia said:
I benefited hugely from my Oxford education—it launched my climate career. But I believe we need to make high-quality, skills-based, action-enabling education available to everyone. We need people everywhere learning about climate solutions and strategies, and deploying their skills to tackle climate change. This is exactly what we’re building in partnership with the ECI.”
Dr. Kapadia has close to three decades of global experience across clean energy deployment, climate education, and sustainable development. This programme builds on all this experience, that, most recently, includes creating Climate Change: Learning for Action at Terra.do, a course that graduated over 5,000 professionals from 80+ countries over five years.

Who can apply?
The programme welcomes learners from all backgrounds — engineers, storytellers, policymakers, educators, activists, entrepreneurs, and early-career professionals. Applications for the March 2025 cohort are now open.
