The Environmental Change Institute (ECI) recently welcomed a delegation from the Institute of Electrical Engineering (IEE) Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) for a research visit focused on energy and infrastructure systems.
The visit built on an existing research relationship and earlier collaboration on renewable energy planning involving ECI researchers. It formed part of a wider UK visit programme that also included meetings at other universities.
During the visit, researchers from ECI and IEE CAS exchanged knowledge on energy systems and infrastructure planning, and discussed opportunities for future collaboration and joint funding applications. The visiting delegation included Yaxuan Jiao, Deputy Secretary General of the Mission Innovation Chinese Secretariat, who shared research from IEE CAS.
Presentations on Oxford research were given by Professor Jim Hall, Professor of Climate and Environmental Risk and Lead of the Oxford Programme for Sustainable Infrastructure Systems (OPSIS), Dr Tina Fawcett, Associate Professor and Deputy Leader of the Energy Group, and Professor Deborah Greaves, Statutory Professor of Civil Engineering from the Department of Engineering Science at Oxford.
The visit was supported by the Oxford Energy Network and the ZERO Institute, and concluded with a dinner at Linacre College.
