Professors Constance McDermott, Jan Rosenow and Yadvinder Malhi, all Fellows of Oriel College, welcomed King Charles alongside members of the College community. They were joined by ECI DPhil students Cassandra Etter Wenzel and Bawa Sulemana, who were invited to meet His Majesty during the visit.

The King met students, academics, staff and alumni from across Oriel, including researchers working in sustainability, energy policy and the environment. Founded by royal charter in 1326, Oriel is the oldest college of royal foundation at the University of Oxford and is celebrating its 700th anniversary this year.

Lord Mendoza, Provost of Oriel College, said the visit was "a deeply meaningful occasion" for the College community, highlighting shared commitments to creating opportunities for young people, protecting the natural environment and conserving built heritage.
