Professor Bethany Ehlmann has been elected as a member of the US National Academy of Sciences in recognition of her distinguished and continuing achievements in Earth and planetary science.
Professor Ehlmann is Professor of Geological Sciences and Director of the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics at the University of Colorado Boulder. Her research focuses on planetary surfaces, Mars exploration, and the evolution of habitable environments on other worlds.
She is also a former student of the Environmental Change Institute, having completed the MSc in Environmental Change and Management (2004–2005).
The election to the National Academy of Sciences is one of the highest honours in science, recognising exceptional contributions to research at an international level.
