Dr Terhi Riutta
Post Doctoral Researcher in Ecosystems
Profile
Dr Terhi Riutta is a post doc in the Ecosystem Dynamics Group within the Environmental Change Institute at the University of Oxford. She is currently working in the SAFE project in Malaysian Borneo where she is studying the effect of land use change and fragmentation on forest dynamics and carbon cycling. Her current position is joint between Oxford and the Department of Life Sciences at Imperial College London. Terhi is also involved in the temperate forest carbon dynamics research in Wytham Woods.
Terhi's general research interests include ecosystem carbon dynamics and primary productivity, trace gas fluxes, decomposition, and vegetation dynamics and composition in forest and peatland ecosystems.
Before coming to Oxford Terhi was based at the Department of Forest Ecology, University of Helsinki in Finland, where she did her PhD and MSc degrees investigating carbon dioxide and methane dynamics of peatland ecosystems in a changing climate.
