Travel

As you may know Oxford is not at all car-friendly; leaving your car at the park and ride car parks outside the ring road probably works best as we certainly have no parking. But public transport is easier; Exeter College is a short walk from the bus station and around 10/15 minutes from the train station (about an hour from London Paddington). Maps are detailed above.

Arrival and Registration

Registration at Exeter College will be from 9 AM on Sunday 2nd Sept. Please don’t arrive any later than 10am so that you can deposit your bags in your room and wander over to the Sheldonian in time for a 10.30 am start Tea and coffee will be available in the Junior Common Room of Exeter College from 9am.

Late Arrivals

If you arrive after 10.30am on Sunday, go straight to the Sheldonian Theatre, on Broad Street (directions above). You can check in for accommodation at Exeter College where we will be returning for lunch.

Accommodation and dining

We will be staying in, and having lunch/breakfast in, Exeter College, so please expect student standard accommodation, albeit in an attractive setting. Towels are provided. Accommodation for the night of 2nd and all food costs for 2nd and 3rd are included in the £80 fee. We have a small number of rooms reserved on Saturday night for people who could not be there in time any other way - similarly we may be able to find room if you cannot get away on Monday evening. This will cost an additional £61.10 (£52 + vat) per night.

Boat Trip: Sunday evening - if it looks like being cold, please bring something warm.

Breakfast: from 8-9am, in the Dining Hall, Exeter College

Lunch: in the Dining Hall Exeter College

Tea/Coffee: will be available in morning and afternoon breaks, at Exeter College (probably Junior Common Room)

Checking Out on Monday: you will be able to leave your luggage in your rooms on Monday and check out at 5.30pm after the event has finished.

Accommodation cancellation policy: we will be charged if anybody cancel their rooms.

Programme

We will be doing a bare minimum of sitting listening to experts. On the contrary, we want to emphasise that the expertise and responsibility is spread throughout those present, which is particularly relevant in the open space sessions. We also aim to make the process as active and creative as possible.

Your Biography

It's very useful for everyone to have a sense of who everyone is so can you please forward an up to date biography of no more than 80 words to so that we can make this available to everyone at the beginning of the event.

Please Bring With You (important)....

In one session on Monday we would like to discuss and explore, in small groups, material that you have brought with you. It could be anything (yours or someone else's) - a poem, an image, some writing, an artwork, a graph, a scientific paper; essentially it should carry important meaning for you in the context of climate change and its impact.
