Some Plants Found in the Fort Dauphin Region

Currently, there are 29 plants known to be endemic to the region. Of these 29 plants, 15 are known to be endemic only to the mining path and have been labelled as Priority 1 species. Those plants endemic to the region but not limited in distribution to the mining path have been labelled as Priority 2 species.

This collection of photos represents only a few of the endemic plants to the region. Many of these plants were photographed within the QMM botanical garden and represent early life stages. In some cases, only the Malagasy name was available.
