Profile

I am a Visiting Research Associate at the Environmental Change Institute.

My research interests centre on balancing conservation biology and poverty alleviation. My current research on bushmeat and livelihoods is focused in Central Africa specifically Gabonese communities and the dynamics of consumption and trade of bushmeat. Using GIS analysis and historical data sets I intend to undertake a meta-analysis of bushmeat usage and dynamics across different landscape scales.

I undertook an MSc in Biodiversity and Conservation at the University of Leeds, where I focused on African ecology and undertook a biodiversity monitoring study of termite and ant populations in Mali in relation to rainfall.

Whilst in Mali, my exposure to the social pressures of poverty and the accessibility to natural resources helped focus my research interests into the socio economic aspects of biodiversity conservation and resource management. Prior to my current research I completed a BSc in Neuroscience at the University of Edinburgh.

In addition to my research I will be teaching related modules of the MSc in Environmental Change and Management.
