Profile

Karyn left the big smoke in 2004 and moved to Oxford for a more civilized commute to work. She joined the UK Energy Research Centre in December 2007. Karyn manages and seeks to develop logistical advancement to all the different kind of events involved in bringing together the energy community.

At university she trained in hospitality management with an interest in eco tourism and after that travelled Australia managing small intimate events to large high profile functions researching and developing hospitality techniques in the process. A passion for music and the possibility of organising something like the Big Chill encouraged her to move into an all round career as an event manager. Past roles have involved organising sales conferences/product launches for pharmaceutical companies, managing logistics for Microsoft road shows, running exhibitions and raising the profile of alumni within an independent school. Since joining UK Meeting Place, she feels she is starting to align the more creative/artistic side of her personality within the delivery of her events to be able to create a more all round hospitality experience for participants.
