Dr Guoyong Leng

Senior Research Associate in Hydrology, Agriculture and Human Health

Dr. Leng is a senior researcher at the Environmental Change Institute (ECI), University of Oxford. His research focuses on the modelling and analysis of hydrological and agricultural response to climate change and human activities (e.g. human water use, land use).

Before joining ECI, he was a postdoctoral researcher at U.S. Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), where he has acquired extensive experiences in the development, test, validation and calibration of hydrological models and earth system models. He has developed a dynamic irrigation scheme considering groundwater pumping and irrigation techniques (sprinkler, flood and drip irrigation) and a diagnostic fertilization scheme within the Earth System Modeling framework.

He has authored and co-authored over 50 refereed journal articles in the fields of hydrological modelling, crop modelling, water use, climate change, droughts/floods, water-food nexus and etc.
