Anita joined ECI in July 2008 and holds a BSc in Environmental Science and an MSc in Geographical Information Systems.
In her role as the Food Systems Programme Manager Anita plays a full part in the development of the Programme, including taking responsibility for short-term projects, organising workshops and conferences, monitoring donor contracts, administering project finances, as well as contributing to regular meetings, making inputs to planning and policy issues and contributing to the smooth administration of the overall endeavour.
In 2012 Anita contributed to the organisation of Planet under Pressure, an international science conference that took place in London in March 2012 and attracted over 3000 delegates. Her role included supporting the Scientific Organising Committee during the session selection process and as Secretary to the Local Organising Committee. Anita was also responsible for ensuring developing world participation at the conference. This involved managing the application and selection processes of the conference’s financial assistance scheme which attracted over 1100 applications; managing the disbursement of the scheme’s funds (~£450k) including arranging travel and accommodation for 200 successful applicants to attend the conference; and managing the conference’s mentoring scheme for developing country colleagues.
