Megan Gawith

Megan Gawith joined UKCIP at its inception in 1997. As a member of the Science Team she is currently responsible for developing and managing UKCIP’s Adaptation Wizard, promoting its uptake within UK businesses, and ensuing recent developments in the field are integrated into the Wizard. She is also responsible for delivering UKCIP’s publication strategy, disseminating our experiences in both the scientific and professional literature.
In her time at UKCIP, Megan has been involved in the development and application of a number of its tools, has overseen regional and sector-specific impacts and adaptation assessments, co-authored several reports, established its highly acclaimed Climate Digest, and delivered numerous presentations to a diverse range of audiences on climate change impacts and adaptation. Prior to joining UKCIP, Megan was researcher at the University of Oxford’s Environmental Change Unit where she investigated, primarily, the impacts of climate change on agriculture, building subsidence and the insurance industry, publishing several papers and reports on these topics.
She joined the ECI from Environmental Evaluation Unit at the University of Cape Town where she developed environmental planning guidelines to accommodate very low income settlements in established residential areas in South African cities based on a case study in Hout Bay, Cape. She has an MSc in Environmental and Geographical Science from the University of Cape Town and over 15 years experience on climate change impacts research.
