Andrew Ainslie has taken up the position of Scenarios Officer, CCAFS, at the Environmental Change Institute, University of Oxford. Andrew holds a doctorate in Social Anthropology from University College London and an M.Soc.Sc from Rhodes University.
Prior to moving to the United Kingdom, he worked in South Africa as Manager: Action Research for a NGO, Khanya-African Institute for Community-driven Development. Before that, he conducted and contributed to interdisciplinary research including scenario analyses for nearly ten years at the Agricultural Research Council in South Africa and at the Institute of Social and Economic Research, Rhodes University, intermittently doing short consultancy assignments on behalf of the post-1994 South African government, DFID, the World Commission on Dams, GTZ and other funding agencies.
His research centres on understanding change in the global food system and includes interests in agro-pastoralist systems, common property resource management, land reform, population mobility and livelihoods/poverty.
