What is Climate Space?
These maps are NOT maps of species distribution!
The maps are an indication of whether the climate characteristics of an area are suitable for a particular species e.g. adequate soil moisture, maximum and minimum temperatures, annual rainfall etc
If a given area indicates that it is climatically suitable for a species, other factors such as habitat, food availability, land use and access will then also impact on whether the species can exploit that predicted suitable climate space.
These maps only represent CLIMATE SPACE.
